User terms

Version terms-2026-08-04 — this is the version recorded against your account when you ticked the box at sign-up.

DRAFT — written by the product team, not reviewed by a lawyer These terms describe how the product actually behaves today, which is more than the placeholder they replace did. They are still not reviewed legal text and there is no legal entity behind them yet; both arrive with A3. Read §7 in particular as a description of the current position, not as a settled allocation of liability.

1. What this service does

Before You Like reviews Hinge candidates for you and, when you confirm a decision, sends that decision to Hinge on your behalf. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Hinge or Match Group.

2. Automating Hinge breaks Hinge's rules

Using this service means your Hinge account is being automated. That violates Hinge's Terms of Service. There is no careful way to do it that stops it being a violation.

Your Hinge account can be limited or banned as a result. This is not a remote edge case; it is the ordinary consequence Hinge applies when it detects automation. We cannot reverse it, appeal it for you, or compensate you for it, and no setting in this product removes the possibility.

3. We hold your Hinge session

The software that talks to Hinge runs on our servers, not on your device. Your Hinge session lives there. We are therefore technically able to reach your Hinge account itself, not only the board you see in this product.

This follows from how the product is built and is not something you can turn off. If a third party ever obtained that data from us, what they would hold is your Hinge account, not only your board data.

4. What we do to lower the odds, and what we do not do

  • Sends are paced and jittered to look like a person, never at a fixed interval.
  • Every decision needs your confirmation before anything is sent, and the queue can be paused at any time.

So you are not surprised later: that pacing is per-send only. There is no daily send limit and no quiet-hours window. If either is added, this section changes and you will be asked to accept the new version.

5. AI estimates are advisory

Income ranges, career assessments, and any public-web research shown against a candidate are machine estimates. They can be wrong, out of date, or matched to the wrong person. Sources and confidence are shown in the evidence panel so you can check them. Do not treat them as verified facts about a real person.

6. Your account

You must be old enough to use Hinge in your jurisdiction, and the Hinge account you connect must be your own. You are responsible for keeping your password to this service secure. You may stop using the service and ask for your data to be deleted at any time; the mechanics of deletion are covered by the privacy policy shipping with A3.

7. Responsibility

You decide every send. We carry it out, on our own servers, with our own outbound network identity. Both of those are true at once, and this section will be rewritten with legal review before this service charges money — the earlier draft of this document simply assigned the whole risk to the user, which does not honestly describe a service that performs the automation itself.

What we can state plainly today: we do not guarantee that your Hinge account will remain in good standing, we do not guarantee any particular result from using this service, and we cannot restore a Hinge account that Hinge restricts.

8. Changes

These terms carry a version. When the version changes you are asked to accept the new one; the version you accepted and when is recorded against your account.

Privacy

DRAFT — not a complete privacy policy A full privacy policy (what we store, retention, processors, contact for data requests) lands with A3. The bullets below describe how the product works today and are not a substitute for that policy.
  • Your Before You Like account email and password hash are stored so you can sign in.
  • Your Hinge session is held by software we run on our servers — not on your device — so that we can run the board and send actions on your behalf after you confirm them.
  • Board data (waves, cards, send history) lives in our database scoped to your account.
  • We do not invent further data practices here; A3 will spell them out completely.

Refunds

DRAFT — no refund policy is in force yet Paid billing is not fully productized in this build. A real refund policy will ship with A3 / billing. Do not treat this section as a promise of refund, credit, or chargeback handling.

Risk notice

The two risks worth re-reading, both stated in full in the terms above:

  • §2 — automating Hinge violates its Terms of Service, and your Hinge account can be limited or banned for it.
  • §3 — your Hinge session is held on our servers, so we can reach your Hinge account itself, not only your board.
